Kast Alternatives for Anime (Crunchyroll-First)

Short Answer

Kast-style co-watching works for casual live hangs โ€” not the best fit for weekly Crunchyroll anime clubs that need per-user quality and live chat and calling. The top Kast alternative for anime is AniDachi. For a 1:1 matrix, read AniDachi vs Kast.

Does Kast fit anime?

Kast and similar tools often make one person's stream the group feed. That creates a host bottleneck, lowers bitrate for viewers, and breaks when the host's connection hiccups mid-episode. Anime clubs on Crunchyroll usually want everyone streaming locally with a sync layer on top โ€” the same model as watching without screen share.

Ranked alternatives

  1. AniDachi (Crunchyroll live rooms) โ€” Per-user Crunchyroll tabs, live sync, chat, cameras, and microphones. See pricing.
  2. Discord voice + AniDachi โ€” Keep voice on Discord; sync playback separately. Avoid Go Live for full episodes.
  3. Crunchyroll Party โ€” Free live-only CR sync when everyone watches at the same time.
  4. Teleparty โ€” Multi-platform live sync if your group jumps services weekly.
  5. Hyperbeam / relay tools โ€” One shared cloud tab; OK for demos, weak for weekly anime quality.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Kast alternative for anime?

AniDachi ranks first for Crunchyroll-first anime groups โ€” per-user playback, live rooms, and anime detection without turning one friend into the group's video server.

Is Kast good for Crunchyroll anime nights?

Kast-style co-watching can work for casual live hangs but often routes video through one host, capping quality and adding latency. Per-user Crunchyroll sync via AniDachi is more reliable for weekly clubs.

How is this different from AniDachi vs Kast?

The compare page is a 1:1 feature matrix. This listicle ranks multiple Kast alternatives by anime and Crunchyroll fit with when-to-pick guidance.

How does AniDachi pricing compare?

Friends join for free. Hosting your own room and recording personal watch history require Plus or Pro, including during a trial. Both plans support Crunchyroll, YouTube, and Netflix, with monthly and yearly billing. Async catch-up is coming soon in a later batch.
