Does Teleparty Work With Crunchyroll?

Short Answer

Yes β€” Teleparty can work with Crunchyroll for live, synchronized watch parties when everyone is online together. AniDachi also requires everyone online together for live sync. Compare its cameras, microphones, and personal history on Plus or Pro if those features matter to your group. Before you pick, check what Teleparty costs.

How Teleparty + Crunchyroll works

Teleparty is a multi-platform Chrome extension. On Crunchyroll, each person opens the same episode in their own browser, joins a Teleparty session, and the extension keeps play/pause and seek roughly aligned while a side chat runs. AniDachi is not affiliated with Teleparty or Crunchyroll β€” we are describing the common live-sync pattern fans already use.

That live-only model is fine for a Friday night finale when everyone can show up. It is weaker for seasonal simulcasts where half the group watches Sunday morning and the rest Monday night.

Where Teleparty falls short for anime

  • No async mode β€” late joiners cannot catch up inside the same room without spoiler risk.
  • General-purpose, not anime-first β€” no auto anime detection. AniDachi offers personal history with each viewer’s own Plus or Pro access.
  • Update fragility β€” Crunchyroll player changes can break sync until Teleparty ships a fix; always smoke-test before a premiere.

When to switch tools

Keep Teleparty if your crew only watches live and jumps across Netflix, Disney+, and Crunchyroll in the same week. Switch when Crunchyroll is the main destination and your group wants live chat, cameras, and microphones. For a ranked list, see best Teleparty alternatives for anime. Frequently asked questions

Does Teleparty work with Crunchyroll in 2026?

Yes. Teleparty (formerly Netflix Party) supports Crunchyroll for live synchronized playback and shared chat when everyone is online at the same time. Compatibility can vary after browser or Crunchyroll player updates β€” always test with a short clip before a big premiere night.

Is Teleparty free for Crunchyroll watch parties?

Teleparty's free version covers services such as Netflix and YouTube; its support FAQ (checked 20 Oct 2026) says Crunchyroll parties and voice or video chat need Teleparty Premium. With AniDachi, friends join for free and the host needs Plus or Pro, including during a trial. Both plans support Crunchyroll, YouTube, and Netflix. Personal history recording requires each viewer's own Plus or Pro access. Async catch-up is coming soon in a later batch.

Does Teleparty support async watching on Crunchyroll?

No. Teleparty live sync requires everyone online together. AniDachi also provides live rooms today; Async catch-up is coming soon. If schedules differ, watch independently and discuss later in a separate chat.

What is the best Teleparty alternative for anime on Crunchyroll?

AniDachi is an option for Crunchyroll-first groups that want live rooms, cameras, microphones, and personal history for viewers with Plus or Pro. Compare platform support, hosting requirements, and the features your group actually uses.
