AniDachi vs SyncUp for Crunchyroll and Anime Watch Parties
Short Answer
Choose AniDachi for Crunchyroll, YouTube or Netflix nights in desktop Chrome with voice/video calls, on-player chat and reactions, and personal watch history. Choose SyncUp if you want free hosting for up to 5 people, phone access, more browsers, or sites AniDachi does not support.
Start a Watchroom
Add AniDachi from the Chrome Web Store, then compare Crunchyroll, YouTube, and Netflix watchrooms.
Both tools sync each person's own stream on DRM services like Crunchyroll and Netflix, so everyone still needs their own access to the video. Neither replaces a Crunchyroll subscription.
At a glance
SyncUp: a web-based watch party app. YouTube, Twitch, Kick and other HTML5 video sites play inside the room with nothing to install. For DRM-protected services, including Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Hulu and Crunchyroll, SyncUp uses a free browser extension that syncs playback while each person watches on the original site with their own account.
AniDachi: a Chrome extension and web product for watchrooms on Crunchyroll, full YouTube watch pages and Netflix movie and episode pages in desktop Chrome. Rooms have live synchronized playback, on-player chat and reactions, voice/video calls, and personal watch history. Each person uses their own access to the video; AniDachi does not re-stream it.
